I am about done sand blasting the frame on my 49 and would like to hear any lessons learned from others who have painted their frame. I have been looking at POR15 and zero rust. Both need a top coat to prevent fading from UV.
A frame is normally not exposed to sunlight. Lesson learned - if painted items sit for a summer, even if not in direct sunlight, POR15 will fade if not top coated. I need something fade resistant since the bed area of the frame could be exposed to sun through the garage windows. Yeah, I am slow at restoring.
Questions:
What paint have you used on frames and how happy were you - did it last?
Was it resistant to gas and brake fluid?
If you did it over what paint would you use?
