Tearing my truck down to the frame for a complete freshening.
I had my plan all set --
Drop in a V8 and Overdrive,
upgrade the stock axle with disc brakes;
and boogie.

But now it looks like I'll at least have to rework the front springs. If I replace them with leaves, it looks like the way to go is Eaton's Rod Rides. But these are pretty pricey ---
adding up the disc conversion, Eaton's springs, and motor mounts puts me pretty close to the cost of a Mustang II kit (complete). I have a friend at work who's a welding whiz, who I would trust to do the install.

What are the advantages of each approach?
