I put new outside door handles on my 54, from Chevy Duty. No problems installing them and no complaints ... BUT repro's really do suck!
The push buttons show rust pretty soon ... but the worst of it was when a buddy of mine came home with a pristine 1954 Chevy BelAire that has only 45,000 original miles on it! Phew! What a buy ($7,000) ... no rust anywhere. Anyway, when I just looked at the door handles I had a true revelation, man. You could see the quality ... 50-year-old steel and the quality made my brand new repro's look like absolute trash.
One thing I've learned in my 2 years of Stovebolting is to avoid repro stuff like the plague!
