Maybe some else will pose a good way for you to fix this common probem. I think that bushings in the carb body are needed on each side of the pivot. A new/rebuilt carb is a practical solution (you trade-in your old carb either as core-swap or to be a rebuilt). NAPA, Advance Auto, and Auto Zone (and other suppliers) might be able to supply a well-rebuilt carb.

Be careful having a (non-carb specialty) shop rebuild your carb - most just clean the carb and install the same kit that you have.

Do you want the name of a few good carb rebuilders (they are not cheap but the know what they are doing and they stand by their work).

I have not had good luck with rebuilt Rochester carbs from Jim Carter (but, he might not still sell them).
