The cabs are stuck together with 300 million spot welds. GM stamped the cab in pieces and put it together. Unless you are a glutton for self punishment I would pass on the mashed truck.
There are straight rigs out there for sale all the time. I just chopped up a junk cab I had and the area around the "unfilled" seam is full of bends, blind panels, welds and flanges! Not a nice area to get into to. I think the ChevyDuty catalog has a page that shows "typical" spotweld locations on these trucks..it'll make you nervous. Keep looking.
