I had brackets available and made a bolt hole template from an older chassis. I have a lot of faith in the lever/arm types but they needed rebuild and it isn't cheap, so I changed. The ride is better but of course it wasn't good with leaky lever/arm types. I won't go IFS. I have rebuilt everything that was needed and kept the Huck brakes although I have a set of Bendix from a 53 but that would mean drilling a bigger hole in the steering arm. As far as discs go you would need a power booster and a proportioning valve. I don't have occasion to drive my 49 faster than 40 mph so I found the Huck set up fine for my use. I also have 650X16 tires and their narrow width makes steering a lot easier when parking than doe the 235X15 radials on my 53 Chev. Basically I like it like it is and if everything is done properly in the front end it will be good enough. | | |
