Guys, come on, 800 hp isnt that much. If youre going ProStreet tho, I'd suggest trying to find a professional tranny building company that will put a really good warranty on their tranny's. For the drag racing part, automatics are amazing, because they are extremely consistent, plus you get overdrive for cruising with some.
I just had a thought, Hot Rods & Custom Stuff had a TH400 with a Gear Vendors overdrive unit bolted on the back of it. The engine for hooked on was a 502 hp 502 big block and apparently the tranny could take its abuse. With that tranny/gear vendors OD you can basically have a 6 speed automatic tranny.
But if you want manual, you could try and find a newer vette (C4 style maybe) that has the 6 speed manual thats connected directly to the engine (the newer ones are on the rear end).
