Okay gang here is my report so far on the progress I made putting in new vent glass on my 55.1.

First I cut the cork/fabric setting tape I got from Chevy Duty and placed in the channel. I did cut the setting tape in a few places in the bends to allow for no crimping.

Once the setting tape was in place I used a flat head screwdriver to solidly push the tape in place.

Next came the glass and a rubber mallet. I began to slide the glass in and when it got tight I used the mallet, gently, to ease the glass in. Keep an eye on the setting tape to keep it even on both sides of the glass. Periodically I had to stop and pull the setting tape out of the channel and back around even on both sides of the glass.

As the glass got in deep enough I closed the vent and lined up the glass with the vent frame, making sure the glass wasn't in to deep.

Both windows took me about 45 minutes to install, I should note I put the setting tape in dry. I will be soaking with mineral spirits this evening and letting it set up overnight.

All in all a very pleasant experience and I hope it is that easy for you all!

Thanks to all the bolters who chimed in and offered me advice on the subject before I tackled my project.
