I am just putting together a repair on the Axle eye ends .
The caps that are tapped down onto the ends of the spindle holes , to retain the grease and keep the weather out , are normally mild steel .
These caps are not available locally ,, will it be ok to use brass freeze plugs instead ?
Any thoughts appreciated .
