I did think of one good safety reason, if you get s@#t face drunk and fall out of your truck on the driver's side you'd fall in the middle of the highway and end of story, whereas if you fall out on the other side, the worst that could happen is you might fall and roll over to the fire hydrant and all the dog pee.
