I am a proud owner of a 49 Chevy 3/4 ton. The Ole Girl is still original and I love the way people just come up and start a conversation about how their Dad or they themselves used to own one. I drive my 49 everyday, I just have to, it takes me back to a simpler time. I look at all those cookie cutter cars and trucks zoom by, but I don't care because I'm enjoying my ride, yeah she's a head turner allright.
Here's the thing though, people always ask me this same question to which I have no answer, maybe someone can tell me, what were they thinking when G.M. put the door lock on the passenger side of the truck and not on the driver's side. It can't be because as some have said, maybe it was for safety reasons, the roads were more narrow back then and it wasn't safe to exit from the driver's side. But that can't be it, because if that were true then why did cars have locks on the driver's side.
Somebody help me out here so I won't have to shrugg my shoulders and look like an idiot, which might not be completely possible.
