Like Dale, I was lucky to find an original plate: a rare 1953 NY Suburban commercial plate, with a 1954 year tag. The good news is that only one plate was used that year and thus only one original-year plate can be displayed, the number was not being used, and there are no serious New York State restrictions on use of the vehicle.
However, the vehicle lived its early (first 24) years in VA and is having a hard time thinking of itself as a New Yorker (darn yankees).
