Here's a little bit-o-info for you Californians:
Your vehicle must have active registration for you to obtain vanity plates. The DMV will allow you to purchase vanity plates but the DMV will NOT provide you with the plates if your vehicle is non-op'd.
That's just a little somethin' that was missin' from their "buy online" webpage.
