I just purchased a 49' Chevy pickup that I am planning on doing a total restoration on. I am not looking to keep it original, shooting for more Classic Hotrod. It rusty and doesn't run, but I think all the parts are there. I have lots of welding and fabrication experience, but have never redone an old vehicle before. I have read the Tom Brownell Chevy book cover to cover a few times, I have also read a good amount of posts on this site, I will have it in the garage within a few weeks and looking forward to getting into it. Any advice/reading/machine shops. I would like to do the whole thing, but don't have any engine/transmission experience.
I am in Monterey Ca. and it anyone is local I would like to hear from. Good part places, swap meets, mechanics, car clubs.
