I would like to jump in here and ask a question.
I have a '40. doing a frame off and I have rebuilt the steering box and have bolted it back into the frame. I don't have the cab on yet, so the steering wheel is floating. I found that when I try to steer the steering box wants to spin at the mounting bracket. It doesn't seem as though I can get the bracket tight enough to keep this from happening. I noticed that the u-shaped bracket that bolts the steering box to the frame is a bit worn. Should there be some kind of binding material between the brackets to tighten this up? Or should I just wait to see what happens once the upper bracket is mount when the cab is in place? I did rebuild the drag links and maybe they are too tight? Any advice?
