You might want to try a Jeep intermediate shaft. when I changed my column I put in a 85 camaro column that had a double D end. A jeep intermediate shaft is collapsable and also has double D end.
The intermediate shaft fit my column perfectly, it also has U-joints at both ends.
Worked for me and only cost $20.
