Jed -- I've seen similar units to the one in the photos of the '46. They do work well, and I have considered them. But then I "heard-tell" of a set of "OEM" or, perhaps "back-in-the-day" accessory items that mounted on the firewall. I thought having "period" hood props would be kinda kool.

Randy -- Thanks very much for the link. I'm an engineer (of sorts) and the very technical type presentation on the link you sent is mind boggling. I need to try to look around a little more on that web site. BTW. . . This is yet another variation. The units I was enquiring about mount on the firewall, with their own mounting. But the link you sent uses the core support rods very near the firewall interface. Very neat. And the Plasti-Dip is a real nice touch too.
