I have an oppurtunity to purchase a 71 F**D LN600 set up as a mobilehome toter for less than 3 G'S.The method to this madness is to combine a trailer to this rig to pick up a 53 Chev. COE in Tennessee (I live in MA).GVW of the F**D is 22,000 and the title lists it as a tractor.
Once the insurance co. noted "tractor" all hell broke loose. The best that a local insurance agent could do was roughly $3000.00 a year "because it is listed as a tractor (on the title). While debating with these people they stated that a dumptruck with the equal GVW would cost less because the Tractor could pull more.Whaaaaatttt????
The tractor is under CDL requirements (with no air brakes). I'm aware of the CDL restrictions and do not intend to exceed these limits with a trailer.
Anyone familiar with this scenario???
