I would never let the oil drain overnight. In fact I put in the plug & pour in some oil as soon as it has drained suficiantly. The oil pump can lose its prime & run the engine without pressure quite some time. I saw onetime a guy ruined his engine because the pressure never did come up. He just sat there gunning it trying to get the light to go out.
