Bought a 49 sub 2 years ago. Paid $3800. Trailered it to Wisconsin from Montana. Took it off the trailer and drove it for 1500 miles. Body was nice and straight with minimal rust. 216 ran good but used some oil. Took it all apart for a frame off last year. My take on this is just about any old rusted out truck can be brought back to life if you throw enough money at it. You can buy any body /engine part through swap meets,repops or scrounging at boneyards. The end result is the truck you wanted. The difference is in the time you spent. I think the end cost comes out the same. If you pay more initially for a nice straight driver you will spend less money on the restoration. If you buy a boned out hulk you will spend more money on the restoration. So in the end the cost is the same only the time is different. My .02. Weeds
