For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 1,132 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 1,132 | Need answers. I am installing a new gas tank in my 49 Sub. It is going in the back between the frame rails under the rear crossmember. It is a replacement tank for a 79/81 full size blazer. Looks like with some fabbing of straps and brackets it going to work OK. The original sub tank was attached to the inside of the passenger side frame rail which would been right in the way of the right side dual exhaust pipe. Gotta have duals you know. I have a couple of questions that only BOLTERS can answer. Is the 283 with the mechanical fuel pump going to pump the gas from this location OK? Also the tank came without the pickup unit. What type of unit should I be looking for? I noticed that some of these things have 3 or more pipes sticking out of them . What are all these connections for and do I need them all? Also the truck is now 12 volt if that makes a difference. Since I have started this project I have come to the Boltsite with every imaginable question and have gotten some really good advice. Help requested one more time. Thanks all. Weeds | | |
