Beyond the broom stick, why don't you use the factory GM unit for these trucks. You can just see it in one of the new pix for my truck, Jim Merritt's 46. This one fits at the firewall on the radiator rod, lifts up to hold hood, then folds down flat on the firewall. Let me know I can email you a better photo.
