My Chevelle has a powerglide. Like all other powerglides, it's 2 speed. Fast and faster.

From what I understand they are virtually indestructable. Some of you have already heard the story of my 62 chevy II with powerglide, got slammed into reverse at 40mph by my girlfriend. Car came to a screaming stop and stalled. Started right back up and drove perfectly.
