Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 | Its all in the gear ratio.I had a 1998 Chevy 4x4 with the 350 engine and OD tranny.It got 20 to 21 MPG on the highway.The rearend was a 3.42.The next one was a 2001 4x4,it had the 5.3 engine with OD tranny.The best it ever did was 16 MPG.It had a 4.10 rearend.If you have a 2500,3/4 ton you are probably geared low.If you can get it geared to around 3.42 you will get a lot better gas mileage,however you wont win many drag races. | | |
