In NC you can run the tag of the year of the vehicle as long as the vehicle is 30 years old or older. They will not let you register the old tag. You simply just keep your new tag inside the vehicle in case you get stopped. There are no use restrictions here. We also do not have to have 30 year old vehicles inspected anymore.
