My buddy has a 41 1/2 ton and his gas pedal is as you have described. Much different than my 46. unfortunately I'm not sure how it's hooked to the floor. I think there is some kind of hinge bolted to the floor.
Not much help solving your problem but at least you know have the correct pedal.
