Many household ammonias are already diluted - check your bottle before starting. Try putting it in a spray bottle and give a gentle mist on the back to prevent over-wetting the headliner.
For my AD, the headliner arrived rolled, so I laid it out on a large table and sat heavy books on it for several days before installing it. That worked really well. As Cecil said, my project (54) also took a helper to get it in.
