I did the same as Ron. Kinda sat Indian style with my feet up on the dash. Just loosened the nut and while prying up, tapped it (pretty hard) with a wooden dowel. Also had to rock it back and forth while pulling. I've never had to use a wheel puller on any steering wheel I've pulled but would use it if these methods didn't work.
