Yes i was going to add they made steel replacements but fergot who sold them.
They were never a good idea but the cables need oil on a regular basis. They broke even 30years ago when they wern't that old, but the chev dealer had them in stock!
Especially in the cold country when you were changing the selection they would"pop"
