I've got a '66 C-10, and I've rebuilt the door hinges, and replaced the door bumpers and rubber. The doors and latch-strikers are aligned correctly, but when I slam the door I have to do it hard, and it makes a tremendous BANG! Hurts my ears!

Would replacing the door latch mechanism change this? A friend of mine has a '55 Ford, and it latches with barely a 'click.'
