Thanks afu and 5-window. Helpful information. Sounds like I was going about it backwards. I also got my headliner from Carter. Did you need to do any trimming, or was the pattern correct?
Why put in cardboard? Simply for the challenge of doing a correct restoration. There may be easier and better options, but the challenge of researching, locating, and installing correct parts has been fun. Nearly done too after 5+ years.
