This is an FYI for those interested in replacing their stock front seat in an AD. I've been evaluating different options for a while and the leading candidate seemed to be out of '97 Buick Park Avenue based on an article I saw at chevytrucks.org. I had a hard time finding a '97 Buick Park Avenue but I did find a seat out of a 2000 Buick LeSabre that is very similar. It is a "60/40" split bench, has power everything, heater, center flip-down cupholder/storage and the all-important lap/shoulder belts built into the seats. And the seat appears to be the perfect size for the AD cab. It also has side air bags but I don't think I am going to mess with them. I paid $200 for a seat in excellent condition which I thought was a decent deal.

I first had to remove the stock seat and the sheet metal skirt it sits on. An air chisel made quick work but messed up the floor a little which will require some repair work. I then spent the better part of a weekend designing and fabricating a frame out of 1 1/2" angle iron and flat plat that will bolt to the floor and allow the news seats to simply bolt in. All 4 mount points of the new seat are different which took up most of the design time.

There is plenty of clearance between the bottom of the front seat and the floor, even with the seat in its lowest position. I'm thinking this may be a good location for 6x9 speakers, with a subwoofer in the middle.
