I used my cherry picker engine hoist to pull my front assembly when I pulled my engine. Used a old tow strap as the lifting sling.
Yep. A 2x4 spreader and a length of rope thru the brackets for the fender braces. Balances nicely there. Not familiar with the configuration of the earlier trucks, but I think the front clip could be manhandled off with 2-3 guys, as there's not a lot of weight there.
