I remove the rocker arms and pushrods, and attach two short pieces of angle iron to the cylinder head with 3/8-16 grade 8 bolts. Then use a piece of 5/16" chain linked to the angle iron with clevises to lift the engine. Lift from slightly rear of center to account for the weight of the flywheel, clutch, and bell housing. If you remove the front sheet metal- - - - -fenders, hood, and radiator support, it's a LOT easier to pull the engine on that style of truck. That assembly can be removed all in one piece with a little forethought and a couple of strong-armed helpers.
