JonG, good info. My plan is place it on the engine stand flip it over and after removing oil pump and whatever else is in the way I would remove the piston/rod assembly from the bottom. Then remove the crankshaft for visual inspection, followed by removal of the camshaft.
Jerry I never knew of knurling piston skirts. I’ll see if the shop that I’ll have the block reworked at has performed that mod.
