I’m trying to adjust my 1941 Chevy pickup, model AK brakes and having trouble with the eccentric bolt for the parking brake link.
I have replaced the shoes, wheel cylinders, drums and springs. When reassembling I positioned the eccentric bolts flat parallel to the shoes lining and made sure the shoes are sitting on the shoe pads, within the .002”. With the parking brake cables slacked, I started by centering up the shoes by stepping on the brake pedal a few times. Next, I adjusted the shoes with a very slight drag ( wheel revolves smoothly.) I then pulled the drum to adjust the parking brake link and found that the link slot was barely engaged with the lever and there is not enough rotation in the eccentric bolt to take up the clearance to barely seat up against the links slot.
What am I missing?
