The clutch disk is to large for the 3 speed.
The large trucks used a 12 ". The 11" diaprham
clutch fits the same bolt patern & is a smoother
softer clutch. You could put heavy grease in
the trans. & shift into 2nd or 3rd gear before
shifting into 1st or reverse.
Be shure you get a T.O. brg. to match the clutch.
