I have always been of the mind of that it’s your vehicle and you are the are writing the checks, so do what you want. I would point out that however that the whole point of an old or ancient truck like my 1936 GMC is that it was slow when built and I am in no hurry to get where I am going. I enjoy getting to the sweet spot of 35 MPH, listening to the gear whine. Try to enjoy the journey, it is over before you know it.
