Tyler - Prior to 1954 there were a bunch of different part numbers for the various oil pans depending on what year Chevy Master Parts catalog you were referencing.

In the 1929-46 Catalog (1st pic) it shows 4 different oil pan part numbers, with the specific 235 pan noting the stamped "235" identification on the right side in it's description. Also indicates a regular 216 pan and a "deep" 216 pan with drain plugs in the rear while the earliest 1937-39 pans had the same bolt/mount pattern and pipes, but a side mounted drain plug.

The 2nd pic is from a 1929-48 Catalog which is then down to 3 different part numbers and no longer designates a separate pan for the 235's. Indicates "ALL" which would include both 216 and 235 engines.

The 3rd pic is from a 1929-49 Catalog and now shows 4 different part numbers (the 1949 has a new Part# for some reason???), but all retaining the same previous descriptions.

Finally the 4th pic shows the 1929-53 Catalog which has 3 part numbers listed again, but the 1953 pan has a different number, but no details that set it aside from the others. headscratch

As Kevin mentioned, the troughs are adjusted differently based on 216 or 235 applications per the applicable shop manual.

Sorry of this doesn't really clear up the muddy waters much, but maybe it does provide a little more info on your question.
