If you plan on changing cams, the Melling CCS-1 cam is a good one to use. It's very close to the specifications of the 261 cam, a solid lifter type that was also used on the six cylinder Corvette in 53 and 54. The CCS-1 has slightly more exhaust lobe duration, which helps cylinder scavenging and produces more low speed torque, without creating a rough idle. As always- - - -new cam/new lifters. Don't mix and match old and new parts.
