I'm a technician at a GM dealer, I saw a service bulletin yesterday that I thought might be of interest. It's Bulletin ##07-08-45-002 , it warns about the use of aftermarket fuses, specifically ones sold by Harbor Freight. apparently some of these fuses won't blow even when shorted straight across a 12 volt car battery.

it's not a brick, it's cruise control.
