James - The trick to using the tool Joe mentions is to push and hold the pin forward against the backing plate with pin through the brake shoe (I actually use my fingertip to do this), then using the tool, compress the retainer spring and round clip over the point of the pin and turn 90 degrees and release to lock the pin and everything into place. Make sense???
