Crank mechanism arrived yesterday and I had some time this morning to figure out how to mount it.

Picture below is taken from behind the hitch receiver. The mechanism is just held on with a C clamp for measuring, etc, so it will be about 1/4" higher than in the picture once the new mounting plate is installed. But there is at least 2" of clearance over the top. I've decided to clock the mechanism about 15 degrees CCW looking down from the top to keep the crank handle away from my backup light (in the top center of the picture).

Now I need to find a piece of steel plate 1/4" thick (or maybe 3/16") 6"x10.5", cut a slot in it for the cable and talk my neighbor into welding it onto the existing hitch mount.

And make a trip to the junkyard to find a crank handle.
