An update,

I pulled the 1956 235 bell flywheel and bell housing. I cant drill new holes in the 1937 flywheel.. it's got a 4 inch hole for the crank, the 1956 flywheel has a 2 inch hole. Not enough metal on the flywheel to work with. So I fit the 1937 216 bell housing to the 1956 235 and it fit! I put the 1956 flywheel on it and it cleared the bell housing, installed the 1956 235 starter and it aligned to the flywheel. The transmission bolts up and inserts into the crank bushing great. However, I need to use the 1956 clutch, bearing and fork. That poses a problem, the 1937 3 speed transmission doesn't have the "input shaft protection collar" that came after 1938. So the more modern throw out bearing will probably rattle. I'm trying to source a collar to put on it. I also need to modify the newer clutch fork. working on that.

Thanks
