Rick, now that you already have it bolted to the bed wood which apparently was an option way back then, Why not just leave it?
I think I would like to leave it mounted that way. Not like anyone ever plans on using the spare tire very often, but I didn’t want the weight of the rest of the assembly and the spare tire to put any stress on the bed wood that it’s mounted to.
