You can swap an upper rubber seal by just loosening all the other main bearing cap bolts a couple of turns and letting the crank drop down a little. The rubber seal engines will also have the upper main bearing shells that can be rolled in and out with a cotter pin in the crankshaft oil passages. Jerry
