Update on the South Bend lathe. It was manufactured in 1933. I have it up and running now. I need a set of threading change gears for it now.
You have to wait in line in the hen's teeth line before they let you stand in the change gear line.
I have disassembled, cleaned up, oiled and reassembled the saddle, cross feed and compound feed assemblies.The only thing that I needed to fix was a bend feed screw on the compound assembly. I chucked the screw in the chuck and used a dial gauge to determine which way and how much it needed to be bent to run true. I used a 12" long piece of wood with a 1/2" hole drilled in it to leverage it back to true.
Works fine, last long time.
