I had one that got bent severely by my ham-handed sandblasting guy. I thought that I was going to need to apply heat and use a come-along to bend it back, but all I needed was a long pipe that fit over the end of the bracket and bend it back until it lined up with the running board screw holes.
The bracket was so bent that it was buckled significantly near the frame, but bending it back with the pipe unbuckle it.
To me, its more important that the bracket lines up with the running board screw holes than adhere to any factory spec sheet.
