| | | | Joined: Feb 2023 Posts: 375 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2023 Posts: 375 | I believe to enable us to lay on our backs, lift a heavy starter and steady it on the stud to get the nut on with the other hand. Lots of seemingly good ideas get replaced. I think they went with long vertical bolts in 63..... and SHIMS FWIW, my 66 C10 with 250 6 cyl came with the 3 bolt starter. I used the same bellhousing & starter setup on the 454.
