The fill cap is vented. There is a small hole drilled in from the side of the hex head of the cap.
If you add a hose and an elevated reservoir, fluid will leak out of the cap.
You could weld the vent hole closed, but you will need to have either a vented reservoir tank cap or one which has a modern bellows built into its cap.
